What We Collect
We collect the minimum needed to run the Services effectively:
-
Account & Contact Info
-
Email address (required) — for account
servicing, delivery of reports/alerts by email, and
marketing/newsletters.
-
Phone number (optional) — for
text alerts and account/security
notices.
-
Name (optional) — for personalization
and convenience.
-
Account settings & preferences —
how you want to receive alerts, content preferences, and
similar.
-
Service & Usage Telemetry (non-cookie)
-
High-level engagement signals such as
link clicks we send,
login counts,
date/time of account creation, and
similar diagnostic metadata.
-
We do not run invasive tracking or
third‑party ad pixels in Beta.
-
Billing
-
We use Stripe to process payments.
Stripe collects and stores your billing
information on our behalf. We do not store full payment
card numbers on Live Wire systems.
-
Authentication
-
We use Clerk to manage account
creation, authentication, and related identity data.
Why We Collect It (How We Use Data)
We use your information to:
-
Provide the Services — create and secure your
account (via Clerk), deliver reports and alerts by email or
text, and honor your settings and preferences.
-
Billing & account management — process
payments (via Stripe), prevent fraud, and handle customer
support.
-
NFAS communications — send NFAS alerts and
occasional system tests, which
may include promotional material for the main
Live Wire service.
-
Improve the Services — analyze high‑level,
non‑cookie telemetry to understand reliability, content
performance, and product decisions.
-
Marketing — send newsletters and product
updates. (See Your Choices & Rights.)
We do not sell or rent your personal information.
Legal Bases
We operate primarily under U.S. law. If you are in the
European Economic Area (EEA),
United Kingdom (UK), or
Switzerland (CH) and the GDPR/UK GDPR/FDPA applies,
our legal bases may include:
-
Contract (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR): to create/manage
your account, deliver alerts, and provide the Services you
request.
-
Legitimate interests (Art. 6(1)(f)): to secure
the Services, prevent abuse/fraud, perform non‑intrusive
analytics, and improve reliability. We balance these interests
against your rights.
-
Legal obligation (Art. 6(1)(c)): to meet tax,
accounting, and compliance requirements.
-
Consent (Art. 6(1)(a)): for optional activities
such as SMS/text delivery in some regions and
certain marketing. You can withdraw consent at any time (see
Your Choices & Rights).
Sharing Your Information
We share your information only with:
-
Service providers who help us operate the
Services (for example, Clerk for
authentication, Stripe for payments, and other
vendors for email/SMS delivery).
-
Professional advisers (lawyers, accountants)
when necessary.
-
Authorities when required by law, regulation,
legal process, or to protect rights and safety.
We do not sell or rent your data. We
do not share data with affiliates for their own
marketing.
The vendor list above is not exhaustive. We require
vendors with access to personal data to protect it and use it only
to provide services to Live Wire.
Third‑Party Privacy Policies (References):
We also use email/SMS delivery vendors. If and when we name specific
providers, we will link their privacy policies here. These links are
provided for convenience only and may change over time.
International Data Transfers (EEA/UK/CH and others)
Live Wire is U.S.-only and operated in the
United States. If you access the Services from
outside the U.S., your information will be
transferred to, stored in, and processed in the U.S.
and possibly other countries where our providers operate. Those
countries may have
different data‑protection laws than your home
jurisdiction.
Targeting note. We do not serve or
market the Services to individuals outside the U.S. If you choose to
use the Services from the EEA/UK/CH, you do so voluntarily and
acknowledge the cross‑border transfer described above.
Data Retention
-
If you close your account, we will
dis‑associate personal identifiers (PII) from
your account data.
-
We may keep generic, aggregated telemetry that
no longer identifies you.
-
We keep payment/transaction records as required
for tax, accounting, or legal compliance.
-
We do not currently enforce automatic deletion of inactive
accounts.
Security
We use reasonable safeguards to protect your information, including:
-
PII managed by Clerk for identity and
authentication;
-
Access controls limiting who at Live Wire can
access data;
-
Industry‑standard encryption in transit between
your device and our services.
No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute
security.
Children’s Privacy
Our Services are intended for users 16+. We
do not knowingly collect personal information from
children under 16. If you believe a child under 16 has provided us
information, contact us and we will take appropriate steps to delete
it.
Your Choices & Rights
All users (global)
-
Access / Correction / Deletion. You may request
access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data. We
may take reasonable steps to
verify your identity before acting and may
retain certain information as required by law.
-
Marketing Preferences. You can
unsubscribe from general marketing emails at
any time using the link in the message.
-
NFAS note: NFAS participation may
involve
system tests that include promotional
material. In jurisdictions requiring
consent for marketing you may need to
unsubscribe from NFAS to stop receiving
such messages.
-
Text messages & carrier fees. You can
disable text delivery in your preferences or by
following instructions in a message (where supported).
Telecom and data fees are your responsibility.
Additional rights for EEA/UK/CH residents (where
applicable)
Subject to exceptions, you may have the right to:
-
Access your personal data and obtain a
copy;
- Rectify inaccurate or incomplete data;
-
Erase your data ("right to be
forgotten");
-
Restrict or object to certain
processing (including processing based on
legitimate interests and, in some cases,
direct marketing);
-
Data portability — receive your data in a
structured, commonly used, machine‑readable format and have it
transmitted to another controller where technically feasible;
-
Withdraw consent at any time where processing
is based on consent; withdrawal does not affect prior lawful
processing;
-
Lodge a complaint with your local
Data Protection Authority (DPA) or the
UK ICO.
To exercise these rights, contact
contact@livewirealerts.com. We aim to respond within one month (GDPR
standard). If allowed by law, we may extend by two months for
complex requests and will notify you.
State Privacy Rights (U.S.)
Depending on where you live (for example,
California, Colorado, Connecticut, Utah, Virginia,
and other U.S. states with consumer privacy laws), you may have the
following rights. We will honor applicable requests
consistent with state law:
-
Right to Know/Access. You can request that we
disclose: (a) the categories of personal
information we collect, use, disclose, or retain; (b) the
specific pieces of personal information we hold
about you; (c) the sources of that information;
(d) our business or commercial purposes for
collecting it; and (e) the
categories of third parties to whom we disclose
it.
-
Right to Delete. You can request that we
delete personal information we collected from
you, subject to legal exceptions (e.g., required for security,
debugging, compliance, or to complete a transaction you
requested).
-
Right to Correct. You can request that we
correct inaccurate personal information about
you.
-
Right to Opt‑Out of Sale/Sharing/Targeted
Advertising.
Live Wire does not sell your personal
information and does not share it for
cross‑context behavioral advertising (as those
terms are defined under certain state laws). If our practices
change, we will update this Policy and provide a
“Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information”
method to opt out. We will also
honor browser‑based opt‑out signals where
required (e.g., Global Privacy Control in
California).
-
Right to Limit Use of Sensitive Personal Information
(CA).
We do not collect or use “sensitive” personal
information (as defined in California law) for purposes that
would trigger a right to limit. If that changes, we will provide
a method to exercise this right.
-
Non‑Discrimination. We will not discriminate
against you for exercising your privacy rights.
-
Appeals (CO/CT/VA and others). If we deny your
request, you may have the right to appeal our
decision. We will tell you how to appeal in our response.
How to Submit a State‑Law Request. Email
contact@livewirealerts.com
with the subject line
“Privacy Request – [Your State]” and tell us which
right(s) you want to exercise. You may use an
authorized agent where allowed by law (we may
require proof of authorization). We will
verify your request (for example, by confirming
control of your account or email). We aim to respond within
45 days (extensions permitted by law).
International Users (Service Availability)
Live Wire is U.S.-focused. Outside the U.S., you may encounter
message delivery limitations,
higher telecom fees,
reduced relevance of reports, and
limited or no NFAS/FLASH applicability. Some
features (including certain SMS short codes) may be
unavailable in your region.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make
material changes, we will notify you via
email, in‑app notice, or
text message (as appropriate) before the change
takes effect. The updated Policy will apply once posted.
Dispute Resolution & Governing Law
This Policy is governed by the
laws of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Disputes
relating to privacy follow the same process as in
our Terms of Service.
